1400$/month !! Wow, it is really good. But i am not a USA residents. In my country, people must join the army for 5 years when they are enough 18 year old. After 5 years, you can leave the army and come back to your family. And you can come back to army if you want! (also like USA)

I am from Indonesia, in my country you can join to army only if you want to.
There is no one who must join to army. Beside there are requirement to be an
army, if you are not qualified, you will never be an army.

No, the army won't "own" you. That'd be a slavery of sorts.

I think what he means by contract is that you're obliged to serve a minimum of three years until returning back to civilian life.

So we need to be there at least 3 years. Wow that will be good experience in life.
We will know how heavy to become an army and we will appreciate for them who is in
the war, appreciate human life. In one side, it's good experience but in other side
it will be heavy life when we are in there

Joining the army is very risky even if the pay is high --- well, taking a risk in a battle field is what army do. I remember my cousin who become a US citizen and then, he joined the army. He visits here in the Philippines once and the way I look into his eyes, there is so much fear inside of him. When I was a kid, the first impression I see in those people who join in army are strong, but when you look it into their heart, there are so much fear.
